Division of Dermatology - George F. Odland Scholars


The Odland Scholars program was established in the Division of Dermatology by Peter Bentley of The Herzog Foundation and Dean Paul Ramsey. The goal for this Endowment is to provide support for students with financial need who have a record of academic excellence. Each year these Scholars receive a $12,000 award to be applied toward the cost of medical school. These awards are made during the junior and senior year.

We hope this program will spotlight academic careers in Dermatology and skin biology, increase diversity in the Dermatology candidate pool, and lower student debt, often a roadblock to an academic career. Odland Scholars are under no obligation with regard to career choice.

The Scholars Program is named for George F. Odland, Head of Dermatology from 1962 - 1988. He was an inspirational teacher, skin biologist, and physician. Those who knew George remember him as a true gentleman.
