The Division of Design is part of the School of Art, Art History and Design. Within the division, there are three majors: Visual Communication Design, Industrial Design and Design Studies.

We also offer a series of courses in Interaction Design. All students considering a design major, whether in high school, currently enrolled at the University of Washington or planning to transfer from a community college, are encouraged to consult with a School of Art advisor about deadlines, university admissions, technology recommendations, requirements/procedures, and preparatory courses.

For reference you may wish to view the undergraduate design curriculum chart.

Please visit the School of Art Open House on Friday, April 27, 2007, or see the senior commencement design exhibition in the Jacob Lawrence Gallery during the week of June 4, 2007 for a comprehensive survey of student work from all levels of the design curriculum. Faculty are available at these events to provide explanations of design problems, and to answer questions about the programs or the disciplines.
