The University of Washington Division of Design graduate program is a two-year course of study that leads to an MFA degree. The Division currently offers an MFA degree in Visual Communication Design and Industrial Design. Students have an opportunity to study in a cross disciplinary environment while developing their conceptual skills, experimenting with media and promoting personal investigation on an advanced level.

The core curriculum for the graduate program is comprised of seminars, studios and independent studies based on personal interest.

Additionally, most of the Design graduate students have the opportunity to be a teaching assistant for at least two of the six quarters that they are in residence. This provides valuable teaching experience, as well as a tuition waiver and stipend. The Design program also offers merit-based scholarships, funds for international travel and funds for individual project support.
