Obesity and Body Weight Regulation

Studies of energy homeostasis and obesity are a longstanding strength at the University of Washington. Research in this arena is conducted by Affiliates in numerous departments and the caliber of science is outstanding. There is extensive cooperation and collaboration among body-weight researchers across departments at UW, with other institutions, and spanning diverse fields of study. The Obesity Research Base is particularly successful at training young independent investigators in the field, as well as recruiting established scientists from other disciplines into metabolic research. These investigators make heavy use of DERC Biomedical Research Cores for technical help and services.
