Welcome to the University of Washington Diabetes Research Center (DRC) website. The DRC at the University of Washington School of Medicine is one of 18 Diabetes Centers sponsored by the National Institutes of Health to promote basic, translational, and clinical research on diabetes and related metabolic disorders. This website will introduce you to the University of Washington DRC (sponsored by grant P30 DK-017047), its biomedical research cores, pilot and feasibility research award program, and seminars and symposia. You will also find a list of investigators from the University of Washington and affiliated institutions who are engaged in research related to diabetes. We provide links to other federally sponsored centers at the University of Washington and elsewhere that have programs of interest to diabetes researchers. The DRC's academic home is in the Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition (Alan Chait, M.D., Head) of the Department of Medicine (William Bremner, M.D., Ph.D., Chairman). The DRC Director is Steven Kahn, M.B., Ch.B., Professor of Medicine.
