More than 23M US adults are affected by diabetes, study finds

Of the more than 23 million adult patients with diabetes in the US, 21 million had type 2 diabetes, while 1.3 million had type 1 diabetes, according to a study in the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. Researchers analyzed 2016 data from the National Interview Survey involving more than 33,000 adults and found that the prevalence of diabetes increased with advancing age, but dropped as levels of income and education improved.
