Overview
La Balagne Landscape Project is an ongoing collaborative effort to reconstruct and understand the landscape in la Balagne region in the northwest corner of Corsica.
At the broader scale the project seeks insight into human-landscape interactions that may have occured in the Western Mediterranean from their early inhabitation onwards.
Collaborators include:
- Professor M.C. Weiss of the Groupe de Recherches Préhistoriques et Protohistoriques at the Universitá di Corsica Pasquale Paoli (Corsica)
- Marcos Llobera, Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Washington (U.S.)
- Keith Wilkinson, Reader, Department of Archaeology at the University of Winchester (UK).
- Nick Branch, Senior Lecturer in Palaeoecology; Director, Quaternary Scientific (QUEST), University of Reading (UK).
Beyond reconstructing the environmental history of this region, the project aims to address various aspects of the social and symbolic landscape through implementation of state-of-the-art data collection and analytical techniques.
