My research interests include Russian culture, death and dying, disability, cinema, eco-criticism and comics. In 2005, the Comics Section of the American Popular Culture Association I was awarded the Thomas Inge Prize for Comics Scholarship, for the essay “Death and the Superhero: The Silver Age and Beyond.” My book Death, Disability, and the Superhero: The Silver Age and Beyond (2014), has recently been issued in paperback, and the latest book project is Comics and Comic Art in Post-Soviet Russia. I am also a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies.
