War on the Docks: Puget Sound’s Longshoremen in the 1934 Strike
Capitalizing on the momentum created by the Matson Uprising and The Waterfront Worker, ILA locals up and down the Pacific Coast went out on strike on May 9, 1934.  The longshoremen demanded better working conditions, better pay, control of the hiring process, and coast-wide union recognition.
