Puget Sound’s Longshoremen in the 1934 Strike
Employers’ repeated attempts to recruit scabs convinced the Northwest’s longshoremen that coordinated efforts were necessary.
On May 24th, Tacoma’s longshoremen took the initiative and
founded the Northwest Joint
Strike Committee. Now, employers in the Puget Sound region would have to face a united union.
