Morning
Campers added to the list of computer words on the flip chart. Sheryl shared advice from the DO-IT Scholars and Mentors about preparing for college, based on their personal experiences:- Know yourself. Conduct an in-depth evaluation of your strengths, abilities, skills, and values.
- Research your different options for colleges.
- Work with the school you plan on attending ahead of time.
- Plan, organize, and evaluate your needs so that support service units can work together to make sure there are no gaps in assistance.
- Seek assistance from student service offices, such as disabled students services, career services, and cooperative education.
- Be wise about the number of credits you take, especially the first quarter (when it is easy to be overwhelmed).
- Take some courses that look like fun, as well as more challenging courses.
- Request aid from your professors. Don't be intimidated by them; they are there to help.
- Take some time to enjoy the social life on campus it is a good way to meet new people and make friends.

Connie Light's talk about transition
Connie Light, who worked at admissions office at a university, gave a talk with useful hints. She suggested ideas to prepare for college before graduating from high school (course selection, study skills, maintain high GPA, etc.). She discussed with campers college selection and application, types of schools (2 yr/4 yr, public/private, large/small), entrance requirements (e.g., GPA, SAT, forms), the application process, and criteria for acceptance.
Campers explored colleges at DO-IT's http://www.washington.edu/doit/Resources/college_prep.html. At that site, they checked out colleges, universities, financial aid, and disabled student services contacts.
