Camp Courage Journal

Today during technology we learned about the different types of engineers and new assistive technology from Jenni our guest speaker. She talked about the four types of engineers including: civil engineers ( people who build bridges and help with road construction),mechanicial engineers( people who help with figuring out how things are going to work), electric engineers( people who help with problem soving related to electrical currents) and software engineers( people who write software). We also learned about different types of sensors and input systems. Jenni brought a robotic arm that campers got to see in action. Then campers learned how to program a robot. They tried to make the robot go in a square and were somewhat sucessful at it. Then they did an activity on the internet to try to figure out what they might want to do for a college major. After lunch the campers came back for the college preview program.During this part of the day the campers watched two short movies. The first movie was about DO-IT Pals an online community for people with disabilities. The second movie was about successful people with disablities. Then we talked about internal and external promoters of success.
