The goal of the BioMap Study is to learn about differences in genes that are related to high and low risk for depression and other emotional health problems. Genes are small portions of DNA that carry information about traits that run in families, like whether you will have brown eyes or blue eyes. Since emotional and behavioral problems like depression can put adolescents at risk for a various other problems, it is important to learn about the genes and other factors that influence whether or not depression or other emotional health problems develop. We hope that this study will benefit young people by identifying and helping those with problems before they become serious. |
