Effect of Short-term Glucose Elevation on Glucose Metabolism in Impaired Glucose Tolerance

Study Name: Glucose Infusion Study

What does the study involve?

  • Screening visit to see if you are eligible for the study
  • 2 days of study procedures to measure insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism - these studies involve iv's and administration of glucose and insulin. The two study days are linked and involve staying overnight at the study center.
  • Repeat 2 days of study procedures after 1 month.

Who is eligible?

  • If your doctor has diagnosed you with impaired glucose tolerance or you are obese, you may be eligible. If you are obese and do not know if you have impaired glucose tolerance, we can screen you by doing an oral glucose tolerance test.

Compensation:

Subjects can receive up to $300 for participation ($125 for completing the first two study days + $175 for completing the second pair of study days).
