CARE Northwest
(Counseling and Advice on Reproductive Exposures)
CARE Northwest provides health care professionals and patients with comprehensive up-to-date information on the potential risks associated with exposure to drugs and chemicals during pregnancy and lactation. CARE Northwest serves to bridge the gap between an often conflicting and limited body of published literature and the practitioner who must respond to patients' concerns about drug exposures during pregnancy. In-clinic evaluations can be requested for complex cases and written risk assessments are available for inclusion in the patient's medical record when warranted.
UWMC and HMC practitioners with questions regarding the use of vaccines, immunobiologics, or drugs in pregnancy (pre or post conception exposure) can access a trained counselor at CARE Northwest by dialing toll-free (888)616-8484. Alternatively, on a fee-for-service basis, patients can contact the service directly by dialing (900)225-2273; the cost of a fee-for-service call is $8.
