The Enchantment of a Fairy
The main idea of this creation is about the journey of a trapped fairy that gets lost in the depths of a forest and tries to find her way home. The theme of this piece is to convey the relationship between the virtual and the actual. I incorporated photographs from my camera I took and morphed them into my animation to portray this relationship. The actuality of the photograph is incorporated into the virtual world of the animation. I wanted to transition from normal Adobe Photoshop animation to more abstract with the photographs I took. I also wanted to exhibit a sense of feeling time, life, and power during the fairy’s journey. The fairy experiences a different feeling of time and bringing to life by watching a flower bloom from a bud. Another instance of a different awareness of time is when the fairy is spinning, everything is moving but time stands still. Also the fairy gains power with the diagonal lantern and enforcing the light to come about.
This animation was inspired by my longing curiosity about fairies. I have always loved the idea of fairies and I was reminded of it how it is ironic to animate objects such as fairies or dinosaurs that are not alive in this world. So I decided to do something different and unique by incorporating the enchantment of the forests, fairies and wonders beyond. My goal was to invoke more abstract animation to elevate the life and enchantment. In the future, I would like to add more photographs and music to my animation.
In a sense this, animation is reflective on the way I felt before this class. At first, I was lost in my own busy world just like the fairy. Then this class helped me gain a better knowledge of time, motion, and life. This work is very important to me because of the way it is reflected upon me and my own imagination. I hope that by watching my animation viewers can also draw on some of the knowledge I obtained and get a better sense of reality of the world that we live in.
