I chose to present this story as a trailer because a good trailer is often better than a movie. Trailers hardly ever disappoint, and they are almost always more exciting and entertaining than the actual film. Selling the idea of a movie is all about omission of the actual and the suggestion of the possible. Based on a random montage of images, each member of the audience attempts to construct relationships between them, and in a sense they create their own movie.
"Illuminated" is a story about a student who somehow enters a magical world of fun and endless frolicking - a world in which he expresses what he normally can't. Most of the segments are done with whiteboards, dry-erase pens, a data projector, and some photoshopping. The aquatic scenes projected are taken from BCC's Blue Planet series. Because nothing says "enlightenment of the spirt" like dancing in schools of shiny fish.
