“How should one live?”—this is the historical question of philosophy. Should we be content to live a life prescribed by the conditions of an industrial world? Is this really living, or do we need a new question? Instead, can we ask “How might one live?” Such a question opens the possibility of an unforeseen future, rich and liberating. We live in a world intent to enchain rather than create, a world that tells us what should be, not what might be. “Conveying Life” invites the viewer to break these chains of predetermination and participate in the liberation of difference and creativity.
As one once subject to similar conditions, the author holds special significance for this piece. “Conveying Life” is a hybrid composition of computer drawn animation and photography. The animation and composition were all completed in Adobe Photoshop and edited in Windows Movie Maker. The selective use of color is intended to signify the vitality of the virtual and the possible.
