The piece Narcolepsy is based on a crow that falls asleep, and does not wake up for one year. Within the time that the crow is asleep, time has passed around him, but when the crow awakes, he does not sense that one year has passed. The crow wakes up alarmingly hungry, so he eats some shrooms which now makes him unable to fall asleep. Another year passes by, and this time the crow is able to feel every minute that passes.
This animation was created using photoshop cs. The different tools in the program were used to make the crow and the different scenes in time. This piece is important because it shows how one person can feel time in two different ways. It just depends on the actions that are taken within the passing of time. Time is felt differently when the character is awake to when the character is asleep. This theme relates to everyday sleeping cycles. When you are sleeping, time passes and you feel that you didn’t get enough sleep. But when you are awake, time slows down so that it feels as if you will never get to sleep.
