Assignment 1

Assignment 2

Final project

The piece Feeding the Dog represents the different ways that time is felt. Each character in the piece views time in different speeds. The girl focuses on the setting of the sun, so she is unable to feel the passing of time. The dog or Pup on the other hand is waiting for the girl to feed her, and realizes that the girl is going to take a long time. Time in Pup’s view is going extremely slow, in fact, Pup actually watches as each tick and tock of the clock passes by. Time and movement was a big portion of the animation, and also a part of the readings, so I decided to use the theme of time and movement in one space.

The whole animation happens in one place. In one room, you can see the passing of time in different point of views. There is also the passing of time in nature. The girl and pup are witnessing the passing of time in a measured sense, which the clock is calculating how much time has passed. But there is also the measurement of time through nature. By watching the change in scenery, it can be assumed that a certain amount of time has passed. This piece was created with photoshop cs and imageready 8.0. Most of the artwork was done with paint and basic shapes. Each frame was created separately then tweened for a finish. This piece is important because it represents all the work of animation that was taught to me throughout the quarter, and it brings a sense of time that a lot of people can relate to.
