The Advanced Facilities for Avian Research (AFAR): Infrastructure for Studies of Bird Physiology, Neurobiology and Behaviour has been established at the University of Western Ontario, funded by the Canada Foundation for Innovation, the Ontario Research Fund, and the University of Western Ontario. Learn more about AFAR at their website, http://publish.uwo.ca/%7Esmacdou2/afar.htm. They will be holding a workshop in late September.

The E-BIRD USA research coordination network's focus is on integrating ecological and endocrinological research by studying these topics in various bird species. The network is funded by the National Science Foundation. The European Science Foundation (ESF) and Canada's NSERC sponsored similar networks in Europe and Canada during 2003-2007. These three networks collaborate on new research, information-sharing, and disseminating results of their studies by publishing articles and making presentations to other scientists. The US network includes Over 40 institutions in the United States, Chile and Japan; and approximately 100 researchers, faculty, their undergraduate and graduate students, post-docs, and information specialists. Among them are:
