On June 25th, King County Recovery Coalition presents its second monthly coalition meeting discussing the efficacy of recovery support services nationally and locally! Guest speakers and experts, Tom Coderre and David Dickinson will be joining the conversation.

Who can attend: Everyone! Monthly coalition meetings are intended for persons in recovery, family members and loved ones, persons working in behavioral health, students, and others interested in behavioral health, mental health, recovery, advocacy and /or reducing stigma.

About the speakers:

Tom Coderre comes to SAMHSA Region I after serving as the Senior Advisor to the Governor of Rhode Island, where he has played an integral role in leading efforts to combat the state’s opioid crisis. Mr. Coderre previously served as the Chief of Staff at SAMHSA. He led the team that produced “Facing Addiction in America: The Surgeon General’s Report on Alcohol, Drugs, and Health,” the first report from a U.S. Surgeon General dedicated to this public health crisis. He is the former National Field Director of Faces & Voices of Recovery and appeared in the documentary film, “The Anonymous People.” He also has an extensive background in government, serving as a member of the Rhode Island Senate from 1995-2003 and as Chief of Staff to the Senate President from 2009-2014. He has been recognized on numerous occasions for his dedication and advocacy efforts.

David A. Dickinson, MA, has over 40 years experience in the field of behavioral health, working in clinical service delivery as a counselor, program manager, and agency director, as well as serving in leadership positions in state government in Kansas and Washington. He has served as the SAMHSA Regional Administrator in DHHS Region 10 since the creation of the office in 2011. His clinical career also included service delivery in California, Colorado, and Oregon. Prior to his position as Regional Administrator for Region X, David served as the Director of the Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery (DBHR) in the Department of Social and Health Services, State of Washington, where he had been posted since April 2009. In this position he managed responsibility for the State's substance abuse prevention, treatment and recovery services and community mental health system.

David Coffey (moderator) is the Executive Director for Recovery Cafe in Seattle and serves on the Washington Recovery Alliance and King County Recovery Coalition Boards.
