The center provides a variety of opportunities for students to enhance their participation in student leadership and organization development.

The ECC believes that significant learning takes place outside of the classroom, and their involvement in student organizations contributes significantly to their academic studies; the University community and enhances the recruitment and retention of minority and majority students.

The ECC also provides services such as; a graphic designer to assist students with poster development and marketing strategies, a computer tech to maintain a 15 station computer lab and to assist students with technological development, and a video/editing team filming, directing, and producing student group oral histories/videos of events and programs.

The Theatre

The Theatre is approximately 5,000 sq. ft. and provides an intimate setting with a capacity of 171 seats for theatrical, arts, music, spoken word, conferences and a host of artistic, cultural and social events. The theatre was also recently renovated with new technology with sound and lighting equipment.

The theatre services benefits students by providing access to a unique and limited resource on campus, reduced fees for theatre rental, learning opportunities to produce events, access to staff who can guide them through both the artistic & technical ends of event planning, includes planning & problem-solving skills. For student staff, the staff provides training on lighting & sound equipment, exposure and direct participation in production & facility management, publicity, and theatrical design and opportunities to work alongside local theatre professionals.

The theatre staff play an important role in educating and training students, student organizations, and student productions with various workshops. Specifically, student techs receive direct and on going training on all theatre equipment. Student techs are then able to assist and train fellow students who wish to run the equipment for their own events or programs and student techs are always on site and available to assist when necessary.

For student-produced and ECC funded projects, the theatre staff are available to provide artistic help to fine tune their project ideas, define their target audience, and create manageable timelines.
