About the Campaign

The Climate Crisis is a culmination of global warming and climate change, and their consequences. This is a result of human emissions of greenhouse gases, and the resulting large-scale shifts in weather patterns. As a result, the greenhouse effect leads to further global changes in the environment. In the course of this campaign, we focused on the effects of climate change, specifically on BIPOC communities. Although BIPOC communities contribute significantly less to pollution, they experience worse air quality than the national average.

Each week of the campaign, we focused on a different topic.

Why the Avatar: The Last Airbender (ATLA) Theme?

At the time, Netflix recently released ATLA and it was trending within our student community. ATLA is very nostalgic to many students so we wanted to take advantage of the show’s reintroduction into student lives. Also, ATLA has some parallels to our Climate Crisis Campaign!
