The Educational Technology
Development Group encourages and supports innovation in teaching and
learning through the use of technology by providing scalable support,
tools, and other resources for instructors at the University of Washington.
Our focus is to help instructors improve student learning. We do this
by maintaining a workspace where instructors can explore instructional
technologies and also by collaborating on educational technology projects
with UW departments, instructors, staff, and students and with relevant
outside groups. This focus ensures that our resources and services
reflect the ideas, needs, and feedback of UW instructors.
About
Us
In 1994, three top-level
administrators at the University of Washington were charged by the
Provost to "do something about technology." Thus began UWired. Collaborating
with other faculty, librarians, technologists, and students, they
quickly rounded up more partners and gathered resources from wherever
they could to focus on bringing technology into the service of teaching
and learning in a more systematic way through the Center for Teaching,
Learning and Technology (CTLT), established in 1996. In 2000, the
CTLT staff became an independent division within the Office of Educational
Partnerships and Learning Technologies called the "Educational Technology
Development Group." Our mission is to create and manage innovative
projects that integrate teaching with technology at the University
of Washington
