The Future of Occupational and Environmental Medicine: Evidence and Opportunities
John Holland, MD, MPH. Holland Associates, Inc.
Cost: $40 includes dinner and lecture. A no-host bar will be available. The evening starts with dinner from 6:45-7:30 pm, which is followed by a lecture from 7:30-8:30 pm.

AAOHN Core Curriculum in Environmental Health—June 20, Seattle
This workshop provides an overview of environmental health hazards present in the home, workplace, and community and is designed to increase the knowledge base and skills of occupational health nurses, nurse educators, family nurse practitioners, school nurses and community health nurses. Attendees will receive certification for 8.3 contact hours from AAOHN. Cost: $45/AAOHN members, $55/nonmembers, $35/students.

Taught by John Malool, this course provides eight additional hours of supervisory training on worker protection at hazardous waste operations for managers who have taken the basic 40-hour course. Cost: $145/government; $195/nongoverment.

Focus on Safety monthly seminars kick off with Developing and Implementing Safety Programs—July 21, Seattle
In this new seminar series, leading experts explore practical approaches to important safety topics.
* Developing and Implementing Safety Programs—July 21
This seminar, led by Kurt Stranne, will review required OSHA/WISHA program rules, provide on-line safety and health resources for developing written programs and training materials, and discuss the application of how to administer a program that is effective in practice. Cost: $75.

Public Health Preparedness: Tools for the Frontline—August 4-8, Seattle
Sponsored by the Northwest Center for Public Health Practice, this week-long institute is designed to provide public health practitioners with practical, case-based training on bioterrorism and emergency public health preparedness.

Comprehensive Industrial Hygiene Review—August 18-22, Vancouver, BC
This intensive course provides a comprehensive review of industrial hygiene topics for practicing industrial hygienists. It is useful as a refresher or in preparing for the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) or Canadian Registration Board for Occupational Hygienists (CRBOH) certification exams. Cost: US $900/CDN $1375 before August 4, 2003; US $999/CDN $1530 after. Professional credit will be available for industrial hygienists.

OSHA University at Sea—Mexico Cruise: OSHA 501 (Trainer Course for the General Industry) departing from Los Angeles
Become an OSHA-authorized outreach trainer, while relaxing on a cruise with port of calls in Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta. This course prepares participants to conduct both the 10- and 30-hour general industry safety and health courses. Professional credit will be available for industrial hygienists and safety professionals. Cost: (per person, based on double occupancy) Inside cabin: student $1125/guest $625 and outside cabin: student $1265/guest $769.
