REPORT

For your final report, due on 19 March, send us an electronic Word document which includes the elements that follow. We will convert your report to a .pdf file and post it on the website.

REPORT ELEMENTS

  1. Expand upon and include your analysis of the previous years' projects at your site.
  2. Explain what you did to alter the previous projects.
  3. Explain what you intend to achieve with your design, and why you think that what you have proposed will accomplish this goal.
  4. List and describe the new plantings and experiments that you installed.
  5. Quantify the number, densities and locations of plant species that you planted.
  6. Draw a map which includes the locations of treatments, plant species, seeded areas, mulched areas, etc .
  7. Write instructions to be used by volunteer groups or next year’s class, carefully detailing what you want done at the site after this class is over.
  8. Write prescriptions for managing boundary conditions (encroaching weeds, high water, crowds during football games, traffic, etc.).
  9. Any digital images that you can include will make your report more useful for future managers of the site.
  10. Describe interpretive signage, flagging, fencing, etc. that you have installed.

Note: The sites are judged before final grades are awarded. Your design, horticultural techniques, judgement, appropriateness of treatments, work effort and other factors are all considered at that time. All sites must be protected from herbivory, if necessary.
