Details

Dates - The program typically follows the University of Washington summer quarter schedue. The dates for 2010 are June 21 to August 20.

Eligibility - This program is for science students who may be interested in pursuing graduate work and who have maintained a 3.0 minimum grade point average. Funding requires that participants be US Citizens or US Permanent Residents. Students who are underrepresented in the sciences are strong encouraged to apply.

Food - EH REP students are responsible for their own meals.

Funding - The stipend for 9 weeks is approximately $5,200.

Housing - EH REP students are responsible for providing their own housing including on-campus options at the University of Washington. Students who choose to live on campus should expect to pay approximately $23.00 per night for housing in one of our dormitory apartments. At this nightly rate, total cost for housing will be approximately $1400 for the duration of the program. Students planning to live on campus will be expected to pay a $250 housing deposit (to be returned) and a $50 non-refundable linen fee. Each apartment accommodates two students and includes two bedrooms, a kitchenette and a shared living space.

International Students - The program cannot provide funding for students who do not have US citizenship or permanent resident status ("green card" holders). If space is available, we may consider international students who can fund themselves completely for the summer.

Majors - Students from all majors may apply although the program is most appropriate for those studying any science, mathematics, engineering, environmental health, and public health.

Non-University of Washington Students - The EH REP welcomes applications from outside the University of Washington. In 2009, EH-REP students came from DePaul University, Spelman College, The University of Washington, and The University of Wisconsin.

Working - EH REP students will not have time to hold a job while participating in the program.
