Prospective Students

Are you interested in promoting health and preventing illness? Excited about applying your science studies to real problems? Curious about how we might better manage environmental hazards? Then consider a major in Environmental Health at the University of Washington (UW).

Environmental Health is a competitive admission major that admits students every quarter. Students should apply while they are completing their last quarter of prerequisites courses. Applications are due the third Friday of each quarter. For exact dates, see the UW Academic Calendar.

Environmental Health welcomes students who have varied cultural experiences or educationally or economically disadvantaged backgrounds who will contribute to the intellectual and social enrichment of the department.

Transfer Student Information

Washington community college students should use an Academic Planning Worksheet and online equivalency guide to help plan for transfer. Please consult the transfer admission website for more information about applying to the UW and plan to attend the weekly Transfer Thursday program.

Transfer students may apply to the major at the same time they are applying to the UW. For example, a student planning to transfer in autumn 2010 would apply to the UW by February 15, 2010 and to the major by the third Friday of the spring 2010 quarter (April 17, 2010).
