*****My Ph.D. dissertation was on
statistical/mathematical regression modeling on first generation,
low-income, and underrepresented students in higher education
(TRIO Student Support Services). The
research explores the variation of responses
(denoted by varying academics performance(s) measured in GPA)
resonated from theoretically exact same stimuli
(services such as advising, tutoring….), and how the student’s
race, gender, and socio-economic status may independently play a role in
cognitive processes of multiple stimuli (various
services). The study also discusses the individual differences
within the same population groups and how multiple combinations of
simultaneous identities of race, class, and gender
(ex. Student is not low-income on day one, female on day two , first
generation college student on day three and so on. These identities are
simultaneous) may impact the student's cognitive processes and
learning behavior. The purpose of the study was to pin point and
optimize the most utilized and most “effective” services provided by
TRIO SSS in order to deliver more efficient and effective combinations
of services accounting race, gender, and class in to the equation.
