Alan is creative and resourceful. He lives in Washington State. Alan
uses high-tech and low-tech strategies to meet his needs.
High Tech:
- communicates with a Liberator from PRC
- sings songs with his Liberator
- uses a power wheelchair for mobility
- operates his Liberator and wheelchair with an adapted footpad
Low Tech Strategies, many of which he invented:
- an alphabet board, pointing to letters with his feet
- paints with a paintbrush in between his toes
- signs documents with a pen in his shoelace
- Alan invented a front door control, a way to paint with his foot,
and a way to sign documents with a pen in his shoelace
Alan is an artist. Check out this online photo

years.
Alan is an advocate for people with disabilities. This video clip shows
Alan testifying at a hearing at Washington State DSHS.
He is testifying against a proposal to change the funding rules for
AAC devices.
