Quick Profile: David Chapple
"AAC doesn't make successful people; people make AAC successful."
-
David Chapple (2000*)
David likes to surprise people who underestimate him, for example he...
- graduated from college
- earned a bachelor's degree in computer & information science
- minored in communications
- has since taken graduate courses in computer science
- has found independent employment
- has worked as a programmer, software engineer, and consultant
David currently works for the Prentke Romich Company as an ambassador
and Remote Troubleshooter. His primary responsibility is to return after-hours
customer calls regarding technical service questions.
David is also a talented writer. His chapter “Empowerment”
in Speaking Up and Spelling it Out* shares his humorous recollection
of entering the working world.
Another area of interest for David is leading a community activity
group for people who use AAC, called ACTIVE (Augmentative Communicators
That Initiate Vibrant Entertainment).
