Quick Profile: Kristin Rytter

Empowering Families And Professionals To Empower Children

Kristin obtained a doctorate in developmental psychology to enhance children’s learning, so they can reach their full potential. Kristin defended her doctoral dissertation at the University of Washington on November 16, 2006. Her dissertation study aimed to improve the pre-literacy experiences of toddlers with motor and speech impairments through a parental intervention.

Kristin's new business, called SAGE-WITHIN-US, offers families, educators, and therapists many disability-related services listed on Kristin's complete profile page.

While pursuing her doctorate at the University of Washington, Kristin was a research associate and staff member of the Post-ITT program in Seattle, WA. This project helps high school students become more independent. Please see the Post-ITT web site for more details on this important project. Here is a video clip of Kristin interviewing a local expert in Assistive Technology on services provided to high school students.

Kristin uses a number of AAC strategies in addition to the Morse Code system shown above. For example, here is a video clip of her eye-gaze system, used with highly familiar, and carefully trained, communication partners. She began to use this system to communicate with her family when she was in elementary school.
