  Walk/Don't Walk Signal

A man and a woman are driving their power wheelchairs away from the camera on a city sidewalk. He gets to the corner first and positions his chair next to the “walk/don’t walk” traffic signal button.

[Background music and noise of traffic]

Narrator: “Here at this busy intersection, the city has installed a button to alert the traffic signal. For Sharon and Alan, the button is very difficult to operate. Alan cannot provide sustained pressure, so he swats at it until his arm hurts and hopes that the traffic signal has received his request to cross.”

The man swats at the button with his left hand, missing it several times before he hits it 3 times with apparent force. Then he stops and waits, as the camera pans to the “walk/don’t walk” sign for pedestrians.
