Meena Alexander (1951) is one of 52 authors who appear on our "Notable Writers of Color" poster, on display in the English Department Advising Office. Born in Allahabad, India, Alexander was educated in India, Sudan and Britain and has taught in India, Britain and the US. Her work includes poetry, fiction, autobiography and criticism. She now lives, writes and teaches in New York.
