The annual English Department newsletter, In English, was first published in Autumn 1982, and first appeared on-line in Autumn of 1998. Over the years In English highlighted news of the Department as well as the activities and achievements of students, alumni, faculty, and friends. In 2002-03, In English was published quarterly, and in Winter 2004, the name was changed to English Matters, reflecting, as Chair Richard Dunn notes, an acknowledgement of "the many dimensions of English Studies articulated in curriculum, creative and scholarly work."
