Applications to the undergraduate English major are accepted at the start of Autumn, Winter, and Spring Quarters (due by 4:00pm on the 3rd Friday of the quarter) from students currently enrolled at the University of Washington.
If admitted to the department, students will be eligible to register for courses open only to English majors during Registration Period 1. (Apply Autumn Quarter to be eligible for Winter registration; apply Winter Quarter to be eligible for Spring registration; apply Spring Quarter to be eligible for Autumn registration; applications are not accepted Summer Quarter.) Students from historically underrepresented ethnic/racial groups are especially encouraged to apply.
Students may also apply, separately, to be admitted to the Creative Writing option for English majors. Applications for this option are accepted in Autumn, Winter, and Spring Quarters, due by 4:00pm on the 3rd Friday of the quarter. Applicants must have been admitted to and have declared (or be ready to declare) the English major. A student may apply to the English major and for the Creative Writing option simultaneously, but admission to the Creative Writing option will be contingent upon acceptance to and declaration of the English major. (Please note that the Creative Writing option is not available to Evening Degree Program students.)
