Rewarding Opportunity

Two members of the Awards Committee are commencing new ventures: Ann Montgomery Smith is now Director of the New Britain, CT, Public Library, and Ray Bohling will retire in December as Reference Bibliographer at the Science and Engineering Library at the University of Minnesota. Ray and Ann have served on the Awards Committee since it was established and each has chaired the committee. Their contributions have been of great value to the division and they will be missed.

As a result of these changes, there are now two openings on the three member Awards Committee. New division members are especially encouraged to consider these positions. Presently, the division sponsors one award, the Homer Bernhardt Award for Distinguished Service. It is this committee's responsibility to select who receives this honor. The work load is not arduous-- nominations are submitted to ASEE headquarters, which forwards the information to the committee. The committee has considered developing another award, recognizing achievement within a given year, perhaps for "best paper." YOU could help make this a reality.

To join the committee, or for further information please contact Paige Gibbs, Tel: 508 999-8886, or PGIBBS@UMASSD.EDU
