January 15
for the following academic year.

IMPORTANT:
It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that the Department of English receives all application materials by the deadline.  Postmarks are not sufficient.  Incomplete applications will not be considered.  Teaching assistantship applications must also be received at this time.  We encourage applicants to submit materials early, and it is their responsibility to ensure that everything arrives by the deadline.

November 1 In addition to departmental materials due January 15, international applicants must submit the Graduate School application, fee, TOEFL scores, and official international transcripts by November 1.  See Requirements for International Applicants for more information.
December GRE scores can take six to eight weeks to arrive after the test date.  In order for your scores to arrive by January 15, we suggest you take the GRE in October, but at the latest by the December test date.  You need to make sure our Department of English is specified to receive scores, or further delays may ensue.
January 15 Completed applications, including teaching assistantship applications, are due January 15 for all programs.
April 1 MAT(ESL) applications received by the January 15 deadline are reviewed in a first round which fills most of the available openings.  MAT(ESL) applications received between January 15 and April 1 will be reviewed for admission only.
Applicants may wish to visit Student Financial Aid for information on deadlines for need-based aid.
