ALUMNI PROFILE - JEFFERY THOMPSON
Jeffery Thompson, MD (MPH, Occupational and Environmental Medicine, 2001) is the chief medical officer and director of the Division of Medical Management for the Washington State Medicaid program. His job involves him in policy issues as diverse as drug safety standards for children with attention deficit disorders, health care for indigent immigrants, and flu prevention.
Previously, he was the medical director for the Washington State Health Care Authority, corporate medical director for the Weyerhaeuser Company, and an associate editor at Milliman and Robertson. He is interested in applying business and public health strategies in ways that improve access, quality, and affordability in health care.
Dr. Thompson is board-certified in internal and occupational medicine. He holds an appointment as assistant clinical professor in our department.
