Projects

Epidemiologic study of air pollution and cardiovascular disease
Dr. Kaufman directs a major epidemiological study of air pollution, atherosclerosis and clinical cardiovascular. The project involves state-of-the-art assessment of cardiovascular disease in a multi-ethnic population, combined with sophisticated air pollution measurements and modeling. See MESA Air Pollution.


Dr. Kaufman directs an inhalation toxicology facility addressing health effects of diesel exhaust in human subjects. See Diesel Exhaust Controlled Exposure Laboratory and EPA National Center for Environmental Research and Department of Environmental Health Laboratories
