Dr. Sheppard has a Ph.D. in biostatistics. Her interests center on observational study methods, epidemiology, and the health effects of occupational and environmental exposures. As a member of the research faculty, she teaches an introductory biostatistics course and mentors student research.

Air pollution health effect and occupational epidemiological studies, estimation of health effects from environmental and occupational exposures, incorporating group information in epidemiologic studies
