Research
Prior to entering the Exposure Science MS program, I worked in UW Biochemistry, where I was Chemical Hygiene Officer for my lab for 2 years. My time as a Master Home Environmentalist volunteer for the American Lung
Association has increased my interest and awareness of indoor air quality and residential environmental exposure hazards.
As an Occupational Safety and Health Specialist Intern for Chevron this summer, I conducted exposure/risk assessments to physical and chemical hazards in a variety of industrial settings including an oil refinery, fuel distribution
terminals and fuel tanker trucks, a jet plane hangar, and aboard a supertanker transport ship.
My research project is sampling and analyzing hexavalent chromium aerosol from welding, spray painting, and electroplating jobs to determine work process variables that influence particle size characteristics and thus exposure. This
work is being done in conjunction with biological sampling for a broader scale biomonitoring project.
Extracurricular Interests
Mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, geocaching, trail building, environmental restoration projects, building a time machine, working on my bike, sailing, photography
