Research
Always interested in the effects of pollution on biological systems, I joined the Toxicology program at the University of Washington in order to further my understanding of the subject. My research currently centers around integrating different types of biomarkers in order to predict responses in persons, especially children, exposed to organophosphate pesticides. In order to do so, I am combining cutting edge research technologies, like gene expression arrays and multiplexed genotyping platforms, with human field samples and bioinformatic tools to identify unique signatures of pesticide exposure. This information will hopefully better inform exposure assessments and help explain the variability in the response to pesticides within human populations.
