{"id":779,"date":"2011-08-07T21:23:57","date_gmt":"2011-08-08T04:23:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/eolcare\/pubs\/?page_id=779"},"modified":"2024-03-21T15:51:55","modified_gmt":"2024-03-21T22:51:55","slug":"hospice-study","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/eolcare\/past-research\/hospice-study\/","title":{"rendered":"Hospice Study"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Measuring the Quality of Dying and Death in Persons Receiving Hospice Care<\/strong><br \/>\nPrincipal Investigator:\u00a0 JR Curtis<br \/>\nResearch Grant:\u00a0 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, August 1999 to July 2002<\/p>\n<p>The objectives of this project were:\u00a0 1) to test the measurement validity and domain structure of a questionnaire administered to significant others and hospice providers that measures the perceived quality of dying and death (QODD) of persons in hospice care; 2) to test the reproducibility and internal consistency reliability of the after-death QODD questionnaire; 3) to examine the validity of the after-death QODD questionnaire using patients\u2019 pre-death interviews, significant others\u2019 pre and post death interviews, hospice providers\u2019 assessments, and chart reviews; and 4) to compare the validity of an after-death QODD questionnaire to a modified after-death QODD questionnaire that is modified using the preferences about dying and death as assessed by the patient prior to death.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Publications from this study include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Downey L, Curtis JR, Lafferty WE, Herting JR, Engelberg RA.
