Biostatistics Pre-Test for All Students
Each new graduate student should take the Biostatistics Pre-Test to determine if his or her math background is at an appropriate level of preparation for this program. Biostatistics core classes require knowledge of college algebra and logarithms. Although the core classes do not assume prior familiarity with statistics and STATA (the statistical analysis software used in the courses), students with prior knowledge of either tend to have an easier class experience. This can be especially true for the faster sequence BIOST 517-518. Review resources are listed at the beginning of the Pre-Test. The Test Answers are provided. Students who miss more than 2 questions on the pre-test, or who don't have any exposure to basic statistics or STATA, should invest time to review before the start of classes in the graduate program.
