Susan R. Heckbert, MD, PhD, MPH

Dr. Heckbert is an Affiliate Investigator with Group Health Research Institute

Dr. Heckbert is Professor of Epidemiology, Adjunct Professor of Pharmacy,
and an Affiliate Investigator at the Group Health Research Institute. Her
research interests are in cardiovascular disease epidemiology, genetics, and
pharmacoepidemiology. She teaches Epi 533, Pharmacoepidemiology, offered in Spring Quarter.

Nicholas L. Smith, PhD
Professor of Epidemiology

Dr. Smith is Professor of Epidemiology and Director of the VA Seattle Epidemiologic Research and Information Center (ERIC) at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System. He is also and Affiliate Investigator with Group Health Research Institute

Abstract:

This year, the UW Cardiovascular Health Research Unit is celebrating its 20th anniversary. In recognition of this milestone, two of the Unit's Epidemiology faculty members will discuss recent research efforts related to atrial fibrillation and venous thrombosis.
