Research Interests
Dr. Grant is principal investigator of the Parent-Child Assistance Program, an award-winning statewide intervention model working with high-risk mothers who abuse alcohol and drugs during pregnancy. The program has been replicated at over a dozen locations in the U.S. and Canada. Grant's research focuses on the teratogenic effects of prenatal exposure to drugs and alcohol, exposure measurement, fetal alcohol syndrome, and development of prevention and intervention strategies with high-risk populations. She is principal investigator of a federally-funded study testing an innovative home-based mental health intervention with mothers who used methamphetamine during pregnancy, and their infants. Dr. Grant contracts with the U.S. Indian Health Service and Health Canada to provide training and consultation to tribes on prevention of fetal alcohol spectrum disorders.
