Research Interests

Main research interests are antigenic analysis, immunology, & pathogenesis of chlamydiae. Current work includes studies of the mechanisms of attachment and entry of chlamydiae into host cells, identification and characterization of binding ligands and receptors, characterization of chlamydial proteins and their function, development of laboratory diagnostic methods and vaccine candidates for prevention of chlamydial infection, and immunopathogenesis of C. trachomatis and C. pneumoniae infection, and the role of C. pneumoniae in atherosclerosis using mouse model of atherosclerosis.
