Full Time
Posted: November 1, 2012
Closes: January 25, 2013

Postdoctoral position available for a recent/soon-to-be Ph.D. graduate with a degree in epidemiology or related field to perform research studies on hospital-acquired infections using administrative/claims data. The postdoctoral fellow will use private insurer claims data supplemented with pharmacy claims and laboratory data to identify and characterize infections after a variety of different surgical procedures and to determine risk factors and outcomes of these infections. These studies are supported by grants from the NIH and AHRQ.

This position features the opportunity to work in a multi-disciplinary collaborative environment with infectious disease physicians, surgeons, epidemiologists, biostatisticians and econometricians. This mentored position is ideal for individuals planning to pursue independent research careers in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Comparative Effectiveness, or Health Services Research and who wish to be involved in multi-disciplinary collaborations. Numerous opportunities will be available to apply for internal and federal Career Development Awards. The candidate must have received (or almost completed) a Ph.D., DrPH, or comparable doctoral degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or other relevant discipline from an accredited domestic or foreign institution. Strong quantitative skills are required; experience using administrative data is helpful but not essential. Demonstrated ability in data management and strong writing skills is preferred.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with research experience and accomplishments; health insurance is provided. The position is not restricted to U.S. citizens. The position is available immediately and will remain open until filled.

Applications should send their CV, a statement of research interests, and contact information for three references to Anita Hellstrom, ahellstr@dom.wustl.edu or click on the More Information link and enter 22491 in the Keywords box and click on the Search button.
